South Holland Women's Resource Centre New Base!
- Date Posted: 04/02/2008
South Holland Women’s Resource Centre directly provides women in the area with support in the face of social isolation and other problems and it offers them encouragement, through education and training, to take control of their lives. We seek, by meeting and sharing experience, ideas and information, within groups and networks or with individual women, to obviate problems that might otherwise become demands for help placed at the door of statutory service providers. Where problems are already established we often draw upon our own staff’s expertise to provide solutions. Where this is not possible, we clarify the nature and processes of statutory provision and make those processes easier to access and, thus, more effective.
We are open on Tuesdays from 11 am till 2 pm.
From this Tuesday the 5th of Feb we will be based at the Friends Meeting House, Westlode Street, Lincs PE11 2AE

Exceptional work displayed at The Gleed Girls Art & Product Design Exhibition
- Date Posted: 27/07/2007
The Gleed Girls' main school hall housed some outstanding pieces of art work and products. The Art and Product Design staff and students put together a 2 day exhibition which was opened to the general public and local businesses to view the exceptional standard of work the GCSE girls had produced.
There was a whole range of art work and products on display from colourful paintings, pencil sketches to the useable products such as rabbit hutches, a clothes rail, working guitar to baby grows. All the items have been individually designed and crafted by the students and the pieces of work will go towards them gaining their GCSEs.
It is hoped the exhibition will become an annual event in the school calendar and we would like to encourage local artists, businesses and craftsmen to visit the exhibition to see what outstanding skills and potential the girls have. If you would like more information please contact Marie / Sally on 01775 765637.

Gleed Campus Summer Fete Survives The Weather!
- Date Posted: 15/07/2007
With the weather leading up to the big day threatening to make the event difficult, the day itself went very well. The sun shone (admittedly the wind blew too, but we couldn’t expect too much!) and many visitors came to the fete and took part in the activities available. With a variety of things on offer from hockey, volleyball and circus skills, to hotdogs, ice creams and hook-a-duck, there was something for everybody.
We would like to thank all students and staff members who were able to join us for setting-up, running stalls and, after a long day, clearing up tables, chairs and rubbish.
Congratulations to all of the lads who took part in the football competition and the four budding clowns who dressed up for the afternoon.
A successful afternoon of games and fun led by Mrs. Wilson and The Boys’ Charity Committee raised £160 towards the School’s QUEST scheme, and the Girls’ PFA raised £70 with their ever popular refreshments stall.
Tulip Radio's Jan Whitbourn and Chris Carter were on hand to make sure the whole afternoon ran smoothly and Hollyoaks' actor Kieron Richardson drew in the crowds to get his autograph and copies of his single.
A big thank you to all companies who were able to donate lots for the auction (kindly led by Alan Porter of A.P. Sales) which helped raise over £370.
It is hoped that next year we can build on the success of this first event and hope that many more of you will get involved.
Gleed Climbers Take On Wall
- Date Posted: 30/05/2007
During the May Half-Term holiday several students took the opportunity to come to the Gleed Campus and have a go on the mobile climbing wall brought on site in association with Spalding Youth Centre.
The wall had various levels of difficulty and those involved challenged themselves to get to the top; the more skilled members of the group even managed to scale the wall using only one hand, although the attempts to climb up backwards failed!
Well done to those who took part!
